How To Add Multiple Inline Images into Gmail
Update: 11-May-2010 Google Mail now supports drag-and-drop of images into the message body if using Gmail in the Google Chrome browser.
Sadly, I was not able to copy-and-paste images into the message body.
Gmail doesn't support inline images in the message body of an email directly. To add them you need to turn on a Lab Setting called Inserting Images. Even then, you cannot copy and paste multiple images or text and images in a single paste (if you can, please tell me how). Each image needs to be inserted one at a time. If there are a lot of images, like in this step-by-step, your need patience and time.
This has been sent by Gmail to Posterous with ((nogallery)) tag in Subject line of the email.
01. In Gmail: Click Settings

02. Click Labs

03. Find and Enable Inserting images by Kent T
04. Click Save Changes

05. In Google Mail: Click Compose Mail

06. Click Rich Formatting (if not enabled)

07. Click in text where image is to be inserted

08. Click Insert Image

09. Click Choose File. Select an image from the hard drive. Click OK
Note: My Computer is selected by default.
10. Alternatively on a Mac using Safari: You can drag-and-drop an image on the Choose File button.

Note: Make sure you drop it on the button.
11. The Step 10 method way can be repeated without clicking OK until all images are added.
I find this quicker because all images can be added, still one at a time unfortunately, but without having to click OK and Insert Image for each image added. I find this can be an advantage when I have a group of prepared images to add at different points in the email because they remain in the dialog box for the rest to the composition session. I write, when I want to add the next image, I open the Insert Image dialog and double-click the next image. This can be less disruptive to the writing process.
12. Repeat steps 07-09 to adding one image at a time into the text.

If multiple images were added as mentioned in Step 11, when the Insert Image icon is clicked (Step 08), all the images are available in the dialog box. To insert: double-click on the appropriate image.
13. To Resize or Remove an image, click on the image to reveal the options

In the email message click on the image to reveal the outlined mini-toolbar.
